Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is used to stop the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one e-mail address, but to appear as being sent from a different one, typically with the idea to fraud the recipient for some reason. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain, an exclusive record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers worldwide have it. The record features all of the email servers that are allowed to send authentic messages from an email address within the domain. When a message is sent, the first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and if the sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the targeted destination. If, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the particular domain, the e-mail message will not be submitted and it'll be removed. When you employ this service, it'll stop third parties from sending spam messages that appear to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Shared Web Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain name hosted in a shared web hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a couple of mouse-clicks. The feature is available in the Emails section of our innovative Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to activate it is to choose one of your domain names from a drop-down menu and then enter the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers which will be permitted to send messages from your emails. As an added option you can even restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only if it has our MX records, i.e. when our servers handle the email addresses for it, not a third-party provider. This solution will give you the top standard of safety, but it is not applicable when only your website is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are managed somewhere else. Either way, our SPF protection service will keep your emails protected from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, that comes as standard with our semi-dedicated servers, provides you with a very easy-to-use interface to activate the SPF security service for every domain name that you host inside your new account. Several clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that and you will only have to type in the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be allowed to send out messages from your e-mails. In case the e-mails are taken care of by us and not by another supplier, you're able to boost the security level even further and enable an option for your outgoing e-mails to be sent only if your domain names use our MX records. This option will give you increased control and it'll eliminate any chance of anyone faking your e-mail addresses with the objective of spamming or scamming people. It is not applicable when only your site is hosted on our hi-tech cloud hosting platform, while your e-mails are managed by another provider. If you aren't sure what options to choose, our technical support staff will assist you 24/7.
